Reading through the Church Fathers is an immensely profitable experience. You could be reading from thinkers of the highest caliber who were part of a single, visibly united Church – persons who learned their faith from the companions of Jesus, and later on the companions of companions of Jesus. True, these books are not Scripture, but neither do they deserve to be abandoned – every Christian ought to read them.
